Finally something that combines my love of Fleet Foxes with my love of Goats. 'He Doesn't Know Why' is off the Fleet Foxes' debut full-length album...which is still my favorite record of the year.

TV on the Radio play 'Dancing Choose' on Letterman
TV on the Radio were on the Letterman show on Tuesday night promoting the release of the fantastic new album Dear Science. Here they are playing 'Dancing Choose' on the fire escape of the Ed Sullivan Theater.
Don't forget TV on the Radio will be playing a free show on Halloween night at KC Live in the Power & Light district. That place isn't very big so make sure you get there early because they'll put on one of the best shows of the year.

TV on the Radio to Play FREE Halloween Show In Kansas City
Apparently, 96.5 is kinda cool after all.... they've managed to sway a Jeopardy favorite, Brooklyn's very own TV on the Radio to put on a free show somewhere in Downtown Kansas City / Power & Light on Halloween. Last I looked, TVotR was slated to be in Oklahoma City Halloween Eve. This is fantastic news considering their new album, Dear Science, is pretty darn awesome. (definitely top 5 albums of the year material).
While the concert location is still in question along with the lineup of opening acts... their appearance has been confirmed on both the 96.5 website and TVotR's website. This will definitely be something you don't want to miss.
Stay tuned for additional info...

New Music: Passion Pit
If you're looking for something new for the ears to savor this week (besides TV on the Radio and Blitzen Trapper's new albums both due out tomorrow) check out Chunk of Change from Cambridge MA's Passion Pit out now courtesy of Frenchkiss Records (Hold Steady, Dodos, Les Savy Fav etc.)
This is an awesome new release mixing big beat electronics with solid melodies into some really catchy pop tunes. One listen to my favorite track "Better Things" and you'll feel like dancing the rest of the night with a big fat cheezy smile on your face! I'm really digging this album - simply stated, it makes a body feel good.
Check out their myspace for a few samples.
The album available now to download on eMusic, iTunes etc.....

Another Reason Why Mike Patton is one of
the Coolest Humans Alive
Mike Patton, most famously of Faith No More, is one of the most prolific artists of our generation and certainly one of the most interesting. In addition to being the lead singer of Faith No More, Patton has been a member of Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Lovage, Fantômas, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Peeping Tom. Not only that but he's worked/collaborated with Dan the Automator, The Melvins, Odd Nosdam, Amon Tobin, Sepultura, Kool Keith, The X-Ecutioners, Team Sleep, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Björk, Subtle, Melt-Banana, Rahzel, and Kaada. I'm especially fond of his work with Lovage.
Patton continues to show the range of his genius with his newest project, Mondo Cane, which is comprised of Patton singing Italian pop songs. Really. It's pretty great too, here are a couple of videos of him performing with the Metropole Orchestra in Amsterdam. You can watch the whole thing HERE.

Concert Announcements: Santogold, The Cardinals & more
A few shows have been announced in the past weeks that I haven't posted about....here's what I missed. Santogold will be playing Liberty Hall on September 30th, no word on tickets yet. This already adds to a tough decision that night as Dr. Dog plays The Record Bar in KC and Dead Confederate will be at The Jackpot in Lawrence as well.
The Cardinals (formerly Ryan Adams & The Cardinals) will be at The Uptown on October 9th and that will always be an interesting and entertaining experience. By the way, when did Ryan Adams become a Rick Moranis look-alike?
Neil Young will be at The Sprint Center on November 4th (election night). Half the tour gets Wilco as an opener...of course KC gets Death Cab For Cutie.
The Heartless Bastards will be at The Bottleneck on November 19th.
Finally, not in the immediate area but Wolf Parade will be at The Blue Note in Columbia on November 7th. It's a Friday, road trip anyone?
As always, you can view a list of notable concerts in the area HERE.

Top 10 Protest Songs of the 21st Century
The final post of the Top 10 Protest Songs of the 21st Century, taken from Under The Radar magazine.
2. Jarvis Cocker - 'Cunts Are Still Running The World'
This was another tune I hadn't heard until seeking it out for this post. Former lead singer of the fantastic British band Pulp, Jarvis Cocker shows here he's got an opinion on just about everything.
1. Bright Eyes - 'When The President Talks To God'
It was damn hard to find a video on YouTube of this song without a tribute to Dubya in it. What the hell though...the song is about him. You can also watch a surprising (that network TV let Conor play it on air) performance of this on Leno HERE.
